If your looking for a professional, knowledgeable, clean, focused place for you or your child to learn bjj then I couldn't recommend this place more. I have two children who learn here. The environment is that of any top level gym and the staff is knowledgeable and focused on you or your child learning not only a martial art but lessons they can carry everyday to make them stronger and better people

It can be pretty intimidating when you first walk in, but you are instantly greeted by friendly faces from both coaches and other students. I'm fairly new to BJJ and thought for sure in a big gym like ATT lowcountry I would fade into the background. That couldn't be further from the truth! Malachy takes the time to get to know all of his students and offers individualized instruction during classes. He's also kind of funny sometimes! Absolutely love this gym! Can't imagine training anywhere else!

I just started training here about two or three months ago. I travel full-time and have trained BJJ all over the world. There are a hand-full of places on the planet that make you feel like a member of the family from the moment you walk in. ATT Low Country is one of them! The BJJ here is top-notch and they have training 6 days a week, multiple classes. They have a great group of folks there, especially the owners Malachy and Sarah! I wouldn't hesitate to refer anyone to train here! Oss!

My first experience was a very good one.. everyone was very nice and helpful to me. I have zero experience in this art form. A warm but disciplined environment and very professional. I am excited about continuing to train here.. I will be back bet on that!

My oldest son just started his boxing journey and I am thrilled we chose ATT. Coach Isaac is amazing and everyone in the classes are super supportive. I can’t wait to see the growth in my son! If you’re looking for quality classes, you won’t be disappointed!

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Legend Ricardo Liborio to visit #ATTLowcountry

If you appreciate grappling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and great UFC coaches, you the name know Ricardo Liborio. He won the 2015 ADCC “Superfight” in Sao Paulo at age 48! He is a true legend and he will be at American Top Team Lowcountry on December 21.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Legend Ricardo Liborio to Visit
American Top Team Lowcountry

CHARLESTON, SC – Legendary Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Champion and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Coach Ricardo Liborio will visit American Top Team Lowcountry on December 21 in a members-only event. Liborio is the guest of his student, Black Belt, Malachy Friedman, owner of American Top Team Lowcountry, and will give an advanced seminar to Friedman’s Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) students.

“Ricardo Liborio is an international Brazilian Jiu Jitsu legend, but he is also my mentor and friend,” says Friedman. “I am honored that he would choose to teach my students at American Top Team Lowcountry in this exclusive members-only event.”

American Top Team Lowcountry is proving itself to be a top destination for both children and adults to train due to Friedman’s contacts with international fighting champions that he knows both personally and professionally. Friedman has already brought in world-famous fighter Kimbo Slice since the gym’s opening in July 2015, and plans to continue with more key guests in the future.

“We want the public to understand that training at American Top Team Lowcountry will allow students opportunities to work with fighting champs like Slice and Liborio,” says Friedman.

Liborio’s seminar is a closed seminar as several ATT Lowcountry students have upcoming competitions. However, Master Liborio is available for an interview about BJJ and the coaching MMA athletes to compete at the UFC level that is the fastest-growing sports league in the country.

About Master Liborio: The Rio de Janeiro native was known as one of Carlson Gracie’s most technical Black Belts while competing in Brazil. Liborio was a 1996 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World (Mundial) Champion and voted Most Technical Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitor in the1996 Mundial and a three-time Brazilian National Champion. He came to the U.S. and co-founded American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Florida where he taught BJJ. Today, Liborio devotes his time to coaching MMA champions and contenders, including UFC middleweight titlist Robbie Lawler. He coaches more UFC fighters than any other gym. Fourteen years after his last fight, Liborio faced Mario Sperry at ADCC 2015 “Superfight” in Sao Paulo and won by decision.

Impact of the UFC and Bellator: UFC is synonymous with sport fighting but it is only one of several major sport fighting leagues. Bellator MMA (Latin for warrior) reaches 100 million homes each week and broke franchise records in 2015 with 2.9 million viewers for the
Kimbo Slice vs Ken Shamrock match-up for its parent company, Viacom. Slice was coached by local Charlestonian, Malachy Friedman. While the NFL, MLB, NBA, NASCAR and MLS have undergone losses in their fan bases, the UFC increased their fan base by about 14 percent over between 2007 and 2009. It is the fastest-growing sport in the US.
